PALAZZO DARIO

This is an older drawing of mine. I have changed my technique considerably since then (including the materials I use). I still like the drawing. Old building, Venice ... ahh! Made for the Wall Street Journal.

Great drawing. I like your technique. Nice image of Palazzo Dario and the hint of Palazzo Barbaro at San Vito. They were both palaces of the Barbaro family's Albergo branch under Alessandro Barbaro.

Curiously, the Barbaro family's current head happens to be an American by the name of Princely Count Vitus Sebastian Barbaro, Patrician of Venice. He is also the the 5th Princely Count of the Grand Principality of Transylvania and the substantive Baron dell'Albergo. The Princely Count is an art historian with the Art Institute of Chicago and I think he did post graduate work with Yale University in fine arts. Just a bit of trivia for you, here are some links that talk about the Palazzo Dario's history and the Barbaro family:

I was wondering if you have any other great images of Venice that you did. Any images of Ca' d'Oro or the Doge's Palace that you can post on your website? Have you ever did any drawings of the Bridges of Sighs or the Rialto?
