Sent to me by a Supreme Court Correspondent, whose cubicle was featured in Time's White House Photo Blog. Appearantly, hedcuts are appreciated in their small size too!
Hedcut = in newspaper lingo, short for "headline cut". Stipple, pen and ink portraits as seen in The Wall Street Journal. I am one of the staff illustrators at the paper, creating hand drawn, stipple portraits and other pen and ink illustrations you can see in the Journal every day. This blog is an addition to my illustration website (www.nolinovak.com)

Go get 'em girl. My wife has an event with Sandra Day O'Connor at her law school tomorrow.
I am fascinated with the Hedcuts, and I've always wondered about them, like who does them and where they come from, so thanks for blogging about it! I'm geeking out a bit on today's photo - it's making me want to do a montage of hedcuts in my house somewhere, just scotch taped on the wall...oh, but what theme to choose? Justices, CEOs going to prison, people from Colorado, non-humans...
You are a wonderful artist. I love your work.
This is so interesting! I haven't really stopped to think about Hedcuts before. I feel like someone should open a Hedcut gallery or something.
i never knew that people actually created these. i always assumed it was just a photoshop filter. so cool.
love ur work
I have a website [not my blog] that I recently created that features my art work. Now I want to delete it. You have my sympathy. I am encouraged to check out the hedcuts link based on your story and your art. Thanks and good luck.
that's interesting!
